If there are Murchison Athletes, or any Anderson vertical team member who is competing in the Congressional State Games of America in Grand Rapids this August please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for our students to meet at the opening ceremonies parade for a photo and perhaps march together.
The fifth and sixth editions of the student newspaper EL MATADOR are here! 8th graders who did not get a copy of #5 should come by room 428 for a copy. Paper #6 is available during advisory - please send a representative to get some for your group. Congratulations to the student writers for great effort on producing the student newspaper this year!
Good afternoon, Matadors!
I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Now, however, we are back in school. I want you to know that your teachers are proud of you, as are your counselors, assistant principals, and other support staff. And, I, too, in my short time with you, am also proud of you. That’s why this week is so important to our school. As you know, this shortened week is our last week of the school year. I know to some of you, it has seemed like a long year, while to others it has raced by quickly. Either way, it is important that this week, you make good decisions. We need you to finish the year doing your best to be your best. We need you to continue to make us proud until the last dismissal on the last day. You see, the way you finish this year will have a direct impact on next year.
Current sixth graders - next year you will be the heart of our school. You will bridge the gap between incoming sixth graders and upcoming 8th graders. Your behavior will have a tremendous impact on both grades. So use this week to show your Murchison pride.
Current seventh graders - next year you will lead our school. While this might seem corny today, understand that next year, our expectations of you will be quite high. We expect you model good behavior, strong leadership, and responsible decision-making, starting today.
Current eighth graders - everything you do from now on matters - at Murchison and in high school. Carry yourself with respect and you will receive respect in turn. No longer can you rely on the folly of youth to explain poor decisions. From now on, beginning today, you will be held to a higher standard. We want you to move to high school proudly, we want you to conduct yourself in these last few days, proudly.
We are all proud to be Matadors. Now, especially now, it is important that we behave responsibly. We know that you can do it. Understand that if you don’t there will be consequences, immediate consequences. So finish the year with self-respect, respect for others, and respect for property. We know you can do it.
Reminder: No backpacks allowed on campus all week.
