Murchison Middle School International Baccalaureate MYP

Welcome to the Matador Library, were reading, learning, and collaboration come to life!
Our hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:00. There are times where the library will be closed before and after school due to meetings and trainings. Watch the library doors and listen to announcements for closures.

Students may checkout up to 2 items at a time, each for a 2 week period. Please renew books if they're needed for more than the original 2 weeks. There are no fines for overdue books, however there are fines for lost and damaged books.

Student computers are available during open hours, but are limited to school work only. Due to the limited number of computers, students playing computer games will not be allowed. Students may print from computers, and the following costs cover paper and ink: black & white - $0.10 per sheet of paper.

Looking for a good book? Needing resources for a research paper? Want to learn more about current practices in technology? I'm your go-to person!

I'm a graduate of Austin ISD, having attended Webb Elementary, Martin Jr. High, and Anderson High School. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Human Ecology. During college, while working in child care, I realized my passion was teaching, so I received my alternative certification from Region XIII. With my teaching certificate in hand, I started my teaching career in 1997 at Hill Elementary. After 12 years teaching 3rd and 5th grades at Hill (with a 2 year stint creating online curriculum for new teachers at ESC Region XIII), I moved to Murchison to be a librarian in 2009. In 2010 I graduated with my Masters of Science in Library Science from the University of North Texas. In November of 2013, I received my National Board Certification in Library Media. In the Spring of 2016, I was named AISD's Librarian of the Year. Finally, I am a Summer 2016 graduate of Texas Library Association's TALL Texan Leadership Development Institute. I am thrilled to be Murchison's Librarian and Information Specialist!

I am married to Jody, who is a CTE teacher at Westview Middle School in Pflugerville. We have one son, a former Hill Dillo and Murchison Matador, who is currently attending my alma mater, Anderson HS. I am a member of Murchison's AVID Site Team, MMS Campus Advisory Council, AISD's District Advisory Council, AISD's Library Media Advisory Council, and I'm Murchison's Campus Innovation Coach and Lead Mentor Teacher Coordinator. Family time is spent on Scouts, online gaming, reading, and keeping up with our boxer. I'm thrilled to be starting my 10th year at Murchison!

Here's to a great school year!
