Wednesday 4/7 Match

This week’s match will be this Wednesday 4/7 at Anderson High School vs. Bailey MS @ 5:00. This will be for the top 10 boys and girls only. We’re going to start earlier this time. Plan to be there by 4:45 if possible. We should be done by 7:00. Please note: if you ever need to leave a match early, simply let Coach Reed know. Thanks!!

Monday 3/29 Practice is cancelled

Coach Reed is feeling under the weather.

Please note that our first match is Wednesday the 31st at Austin High School, not O. Henry.

First Match

Good news! We don’t have the whole season scheduled yet, but we do have a confirmation on our first match vs. O.Henry next Wednesday the 31st @ Austin High courts at 6:00.  We will take all the players, regardless of their rank. Players should plan on getting there around 5:30 to warm up. Please reach out to Kerry Burris or Coach Reed if you need help getting to Austin High. There will not be a bus.

Practice Schedule

There has been some confusion regarding practice schedule, so here is this week’s schedule:

  • Monday: top 10 girls
  • Tuesday: top 10 boys
  • Wednesday: top 6 boys and girls
  • Thursday: top 6 boys and girls
  • Friday: 7 and below.
I have still not received an official match schedule, but it appears that matches are likely going to be on Wednesdays or Thursdays, so the top 6 boys and girls day would normally just be whichever day we didn’t have a match that week. Since there is no match this week, both days will be top 6 boys and girls (not top 10 boys, as an email mistakenly said–my bad).

March 12, 2021

Please note that practice does not start until we return from Spring Break. There will be no practice Friday 3/12.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to post the names of the players on the website, but you can email Coach Reed for your child’s rank. This is important to know so the player will know which days to come to practice.  See FAQ for practice schedule.

Tennis Tryout FAQ

  • Does my child need to submit an AISD Physical packet to participate?
    • YES!!! And a Covid waiver. Both must be on file with the Athletics office before any child can participate in tryouts, practices or matches. The forms can be found here.
  • When are Tryouts?:
    • Girls: March 8th and 9th 4:00 – 5:00
    • Boys: March 10th and 11th 4:00 – 5:00
    • Parent Meeting: Thursday, March 11th @ 5:30
  • Will there be cuts?
    • No.  The top 10 Girls and top 10 Boys (7th and 8th grade combined) will go to all matches (although only six players will play in the end-of-season tournament), and anyone ranked 11 or below will be invited to only some of the matches

    • Please note that the schedule is tentative. I have yet to receive the match schedule.

    • Wednesdays: Top 10 Boys or Match
    • Thursdays: Top 6 Boys and Top 6 Girls
    • Fridays: 7 and below Boys and Girls

    • No. Your child can come to the after-school practices.
  • Will my child be able to challenge to move up in the rankings?
    • Yes, to an extent. The first few weeks will include challenge matches during practice. I reserve the right to choose doubles teams for the end-of-year tournament based on what I believe will benefit the team the most, NOT simply according to rank.
  • What is the match schedule?
    • The district has not set the schedule yet. Check this page for updates.
